As we probably remember, the first Finnish diving expedition, organized by Ralf Tötterström, headed to Tenerife in the Canary Islands in 1958-1959.
The 16mm film strip filmed on the trip has been preserved. It has now been digitized by videotaping the image projected by a film projector.
This method does not produce anywhere near the best possible result. However, digitization done frame by frame with a professional scanner would have cost hundreds of euros more. Higher-quality digitization can be arranged if funding is available.
This video clip is slightly less than half of the original material, i.e. the best clips.
Since the original film was a silent film, copyright-free music has been added to the background.
So here is a direct link to the material from 67 years ago. A short clip of it has previously been shown on TV, but the premiere of the entire material is now right on your couch.
